Celtic are in great form at this point. The Ange Postecoglou team have won seven of their last eight games in all competitions while drawing the other. As a result, they moved from sixth to second in the Scottish Premiership standings and still find themselves in the race to reach the knockout stages of the Europa League. One of the main reasons for their recent return to form has been Jota’s performance.
The Portuguese winger arrived from Benfica on a one-season loan this summer and there were a lot of doubts over the move at the time. There is very little doubt now, because Jota has been absolutely superb.
This weekend he scored twice against Dundee FC while providing an assist. And as a result, he was ranked ahead of Manchester City‘s Joao Cancelo in Portugal’s top 10 foreign player list this week.
As reported by Maisfutebol, Jota received a score of 9.1 by SofaScore for his performance against Dundee FC, which was the second best this week. This means he finished ahead of Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo, who put on a brilliant performance against Manchester United, and finished third with a score of 8.6.
Jota has been brilliant since joining Celtic on loan from Benfica
It would be an understatement to say that Jota has impressed since joining Celtic this summer. He has been amazing and is already one of the most important players in Postecoglou’s squad and arguably one of the best in Scotland in his current form.
Celtic are said to have a purchase option of around £ 6.5million included in their loan deal and there are already calls for the club to make their stay permanent.
Recent rumors have suggested the club are open to the prospect of getting there, but it could end up coming down to what Jota wants to do moving forward.
