Chelsea will continue talks to stop the midfielder from joining Manchester City

Mason Mount has been linked with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United, but it appears Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea are determined to prevent him from leaving Stamford Bridge.

Back in April The Sun reported Manchester City and Newcastle are interested in signing Mount and plan to make a bid for the midfielder from Chelsea in the summer of 2023.

The UK tabloid’s report claimed the Citizens and Magpies weren’t going to make a move in the summer of 2022, but their plan is to bid for him at the end of the 2022-23 campaign if £70,000-a-week (The sun) star still hasn’t signed a new contract.

The well-known and respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has now reported on Twitter that Chelsea are in talks with Mount over a new deal, and that the England international midfielder is now waiting for the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners to send in a new and final proposal.

Mount a scored 24 goals and created 31 big chances in 111 Premier League appearances so far in his career.
