Manchester City fans took the opportunity to troll neighbors Manchester United as they took control of their game against Norwich.
After watching their arch-rivals drop points earlier in the day as United were held 1-1 by Southampton, City have widened the significant gap separating the two sides in the Premier League.
After taking the lead against Norwich with a superb first-half goal from Raheem Sterling, City were quick to double their lead after the break through Phil Foden.
The England international managed to drive the ball home after initially being denied by goalkeeper Angus Gunn, with Grant Hanley’s attempt to clear the line proving futile as goal-line tech confirmed that the effort had effectively put City 2-0 ahead.
And traveling supporters reveled in the misery of their neighbors as they trailed 12 points clear at the top of the table.
The gap to United is even bigger, with Pep Guardiola’s side 23 points clear as the Reds struggle in their race to reach the top four.
City fans could be heard signing ‘watch out, Man United’ after Foden’s goal made it 2-0, rubbing salt in their neighbors’ wounds after another dismal week that also saw them knocked out of the FA Cup by Middlesbrough.
Perhaps more importantly for Guardiola’s side, they extend their lead over nearest rivals Liverpool ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s clash at Burnley on Sunday, with their grip at the top of the table further strengthened.
