Manchester City reject chance to sign Manchester United star

Paul Pogba’s six-year stint at Manchester United since his return in 2016 has been disastrous and you’ll be hard pressed to find a regular at Old Trafford who won’t be thrilled to see him back this summer.

Pogba has flirted with the idea of joining other members of Europe’s elite clubs for years and with his contract expiring at the end of June, it looks like the Frenchman is leaving on a free transfer for the second time in a decade.

The 29-year-old suffered a muscle injury in his last appearance for United which could rule him out for the rest of the season, according to caretaker manager Ralf Rangnick.

According to daily starPogba was offered to Manchester City in the summer but the Premier League champions have reportedly rejected the chance to sign the United star. Pep Guardiola has reportedly rejected Mino Raiola’s approach, similar to the situation that caused turmoil with Jose Mourinho in 2018.

SN’s verdict…
Manchester City are chasing a second consecutive Premier League title and a fourth in five years, it makes no sense to bring in an injury-prone 29-year-old midfielder on sky-high wages.

In truth, City’s recruitment model is nearly flawless and I don’t see any scenario where Pogba would emerge as a candidate to bolster his squad.

A return to Juventus seems much more plausible. Perhaps joining a star-studded Paris Saint-Germain is also on the cards, but no matter where he ends up, United officials will be delighted to have moved on Pogba.
