Riyad Mahrez could leave Manchester City in the next winter transfer window in search of regular playing time, it has been claimed in France.
Since arriving at Leicester City’s Etihad Stadium in the summer of 2018, Mahrez has become a key player under Pep Guardiola.
However, the winger has struggled to buy time in the Premier League this season, with Guardiola only allowing him two starts in eleven outings.
And according to the French point of sale Mercato on foot, Mahrez could leave Manchester City when the January transfer window opens.
The Algerian wants to play football regularly and could look for a new club in the coming window as he wants continuity in his performances which he is not getting under Guardiola.
French giants Paris Saint-Germain and Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid have shown interest in acquiring Mahrez’s signing in the past and have reportedly retained their admiration for his talents.
Although he did not give Mahrez regular playing time in the league, Guardiola continued to trust him in the Champions League, where he is the top scorer.
It remains to be seen whether the Citizens boss is ready to let Mahrez go if any potential suitors come knocking on the door in January.
