Manchester United 2021/2022 squad numbers confirmed after January transfer window

Squad numbers for the rest of the season have been finalized by Manchester United – after the January transfer window came and went with no further additions.

After finishing second to Manchester City in the Premier League last season, key figures in the boardroom at Old Trafford have released a triple statement of intent – signing Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and their five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

This stunning final saw United seek special dispensation for Ronaldo to be given the number seven.

Edinson Cavani wore the shirt number in his first season with the Premier League giants but, after agreeing to leave that shirt for Ronaldo, the Uruguay striker was given the number 21.

Despite agreeing to spend the rest of this season on loan at Sevilla and Everton respectively, Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek continue to hold numbers 9 and 34.

The same goes for other players on temporary spells away from Old Trafford.

As attention shifts to the summer transfer window, several numbers are available for new signings and other kits could also become available with further releases.
