Manchester United have reportedly scouted a Blackburn Rovers man in recent weeks

Blackburn Rovers’ Ben Brereton Diaz has been spotted at Manchester United this season, according to a report by World Football League.

With January approaching and Brereton Diaz still linked with all clubs, it is now claimed that Manchester United have been watching the Chile international in recent weeks.

And it was Football League World who made that claim, suggesting the above, but also suggesting that it’s West Ham who are currently leading the race for his signature – something Football Insider mentioned last week.

Brereton Diaz established himself as a prolific striker in the Football League last time out after scoring 22 league goals, nine of them to his name so far this season.

He is out of contract next summer. But he recently said on talkSPORT that he plans to stay with Blackburn Rovers beyond the next January transfer window, in a bid to help Rovers gain promotion.

Brereton Diaz a realistic option for United?

It doesn’t seem likely. Despite overspending on players in previous seasons, it seems highly unlikely that Manchester United will now turn to a future free agent who has enjoyed a good season and a half in the Championship.

It’s certainly a debatable report and what Manchester United fans might make of it remains to be seen.

For Brereton Diaz though, there definitely seems to be a Premier League future on the horizon, and that future may well be realized with Blackburn Rovers this season.

His side are currently 2nd in the Championship table and have an EFL Cup tie against West Ham on the cards tomorrow night.
