Manchester United told to ignore advice from Gary Neville as they pursue manager search

Simon Jordan has urged Manchester United to ignore the advice of former captain Gary Neville as they continue their search for a new manager.

Neville has been critical of United’s performances this season, although he has been equally outspoken about matters off the pitch at his former club. As the managerial chase intensifies, Erik ten Hag remains Mauricio Pochettino’s preferred candidate.

Neville launched his latest rant on Saturday as United were held 1-1 by Leicester City. However, Jordan doesn’t think the club should listen to the advice he has to offer.

“You can never have too much good advice. But sometimes you have to make a decision based on what you know to be the case, rather than other people repeating in your ear about half the facts they know,” Jordan said. talkSPORT.

“Gary Neville doesn’t know all the facts. Gary Neville didn’t get a memo saying ‘you know everything, listen to me’.

“There is a backdrop to understanding Manchester United 20 years ago,” he added. “There is a backdrop to understanding the antidote to Manchester United’s problems now.”
